Training

My training style is practical, hands-on and interactive. I facilitate both understanding and the acquisition of practical skills.

Topics covered include ethical practice; self-care for professional workers; loss and bereavement; suicide; creative techniques; counselling skills within the helping professions; supervision and self-supervision; introduction to couple counselling; erotic transference and countertransference; couple counselling where only one partner attends.

I have many years of experience as a trainer, both as a tutor in FE colleges on counselling courses, and as a provider of freelance training to a large variety of voluntary and statutory bodies.  I have trained within the organisations that employ me as a supervisor. I have also offered training to post-graduate counselling groups, to groups of psychiatric nurses, and to the education and social care departments of Croydon and Lewisham borough councils.

I can offer sessions as a one-off or a series, and can supply training outlines in advance. I am happy to plan new training as required.  I provide handouts and book lists and can, where necessary, offer a fully-catered service to include lunch, coffee and tea and light refreshments.  I am happy to discuss specific requests by phone or email.
